What is the GED®?

The GED® or General Education Diploma (also known as a High School Equivalency test) , is a set of tests that when passed certifies that the test taker has met high-school level academic skills.

 

What are the advantages of taking the GED®?

Having a GED® certificate allows you to take the next steps to a better future, whether it is by attending college or opening the door to better paying jobs.

 

What is AZ GED® Day?

AZ GED® Day is a single day event, taking place on May 1st in cities and towns across Arizona. The goal of AZ GED® Day is to help register more than 2000 individuals into a GED® attainment programs and set them on a pathway of opportunity and life-long success.

 

How will AZ GED® work?

Any individual interested in obtaining a GED® will be able to walk into selected Starbucks locations statewide or Mobile GED® Day locations, meet with trained Arizona GED® Day volunteers, and complete an electronic intake assessment. Individuals will then be placed on a GED® “track” through a local GED® program (Youth or Adult), Rio Salado College, or a local fee-for-service program offered by a non-profit organization.

 

Who can take advantage of AZ GED® Day?

Any individual who lacks a high school diploma can take advantage of AZ GED® Day

 

When is AZ GED® Day?

AZ GED® Day will take place on Monday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What documents do I need to bring to an AZ GED® Day location to complete the intake process?

You do not need to bring any types of documents to an AZ GED Location or to be placed on a GED “track.” However, different GED programs have various documentation requirements which will depend on a host of variables.

 

If I am undocumented, can I still participate I AZ GED® Day?

Yes, there are numerous GED programs offered by community-based organizations, regardless of immigration status.

 

What other resources will be provided during AZ GED® Day?

AZ GED® Day will allow volunteers to determine other individual needs such as employment, housing, supplemental nutrition assistance, integrated healthcare, programs to escape domestic abuse, and other wrap around social services.
